That specification carries cars, utes and vans up to 2.5 tonnes. Above 3 tonnes gross we lift the mix to 25 MPa and thicken the slab.

A new slab beside an existing footing has to be built so the two move together, which means dowelling into sound concrete rather than butting up against it. Reinforcement comes off the plan, and the slab is built to NZS 3604 unless that plan carries a specific engineering design. Bring the plan when you enquire, because without it we are guessing at the footing.
Adding a patio to a settled house is mostly a levels problem, and it is the part we settle before anything else. The finished surface has to sit below the damp course, drain away from the wall and still meet the door threshold cleanly.

Joints get cleaned out and resealed so water stops tracking under the slab. Lifted panels are ground back or lifted and re-laid depending on how far the edge has stepped.
A repair that costs a fraction of replacement is worth doing. A repair over a failing base is money spent twice, and we say which one you have at the visit.
Resurfacing is what we recommend for a driveway that is structurally fine and cosmetically tired, with surface crazing, spalling or worn patches over a base that has not moved.
The existing slab is prepared, then an overlay is bonded and finished, so you keep the base you already paid for and get a new surface on top.
It will not fix settlement. Resurfacing over stepped panels covers the symptom and leaves the cause underneath, and the step comes back through. We check the panels before quoting it.
On a slab we have just repaired or resurfaced we will usually suggest sealing it, because whatever caused the damage is still there.
Water getting into the surface and washing out the fines is what turns a hairline crack into a spalled edge. A sealer does not stop ground movement, but it keeps water out of the top layer where most of the visible damage starts. It goes on once the concrete is clean and dry, so it is a separate visit.

House slabs and foundations to NZS 3604, commercial slabs and hardstand, breaking out and removing existing concrete, and concrete sealing are all quoted per job.
One thing worth checking on any quote you receive: a low per-metre rate often turns out to be supply and place only, with excavation, cartage, basecourse and drainage sitting outside the number. Ask what the rate includes before you compare two of them.
